Lecture: Adventures in China-Traveling and Teaching in the Middle Kingdom

Takes place on March 16, 2010

Professor Greg Farley to speak about China

On Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 2:00 Greg Farley, Assistant Professor of Biological Science at Chesapeake Community College will be speaking at the St. Michaels Branch of the Talbot County Free library. The subject of his talk is titled "Adventures in China: Traveling and Teaching in the Middle Kingdom”. Mr. Farley spent two weeks teaching and traveling in China during June and July of 2008. In the classroom, he worked with English teachers. One week was spent with elementary-school teachers, and one with high-school teachers, talking about American curricula, and giving teachers a chance to practice their conversational English. The teaching was in the city of Suzhou, about two hours inland from Shanghai. While traveling around China, he was able to see Shanghai, Beijing, and Xi'an (home of the terra-cotta warrior army). Join us for an interesting afternoon of travel stories. All library programs are free and open to the public. Patrons do not need to pre-register for this program.
